Gallery Thomas R

Home Theatre

Thomas is building a new house and a “small” cellar of 7,4m x 6,4m x 2,7m. He phoned one day and asked for advice. He wanted a 7.2 surround system with the capability of playing high-end stereo. This is a while ago and we have experimented a lot since - below you'll find links to the differnt projects which have been carried out in Ole's Home Theatre - a friend of Thomas.

Sometimes you have a good idea - you think - but it turns out it wasn't. This gallery is a profe of this...

I think we will end up with a 7.7 Surround Sound system in Thomas's cellar - the inspiration for this was found at our visit in my friend Kim H.'s Home Theatre

Building a house with a cellar.

View of a future HOME THEATRE

A view in the opposite direction

Things have happend... View towards the Entrance

The left wall towards the screen - The holes will be fitted with damping material to tune the room

A view towards the Back Wall - as you can see there is no corner
- looks very nice and hopefully it will do good too

Here you have a much better view of the staggered wall parts with glass in between for illumination
- sure hope it will give that special effect...

A young Ground Sound representative is testing the isolation before the concrete tomorrow - it is approved !!!
Notice the two floor levels that this theatre will have and not many parallel surfaces

More datails of the walls... 10-12 "windows" for damping ajustments - two "windows" will have rear subs

Thomas is explaining some details to me

Thomas - when can the "real fun" begin ???

More to come.....

In the meantime:
Projects and experiments in Ole's Home Theatre

D’Appolito project/experiment

Driver setup was BBBBMTMBBBB = Bass+Bass+Bass+Bass+Mid+Tweeter+Mid+Bass+Bass+Bass+Bass

An idea of an ultimate loudspeaker for a Home Theatre!!! but not...have a look

SubCorner project/experiment

The SubCorners with the 48 pieces cheap Vifa 6,5", which were bought at a fair some years back

PRO Center Experiment

This experiment were performed to test the idea and experience of the dynamic range of PRO drivers and how the sound would be with the Ground Sound amplifiers. Normally PRO systems sound to hard or harsh...

The setup didn't fail - but it might be better with "more up to date" drivers

Final Center and Front Loudspeakers

The former experiment had proved to us that PRO drivers were the way to go. An pair of boxes have been made for some EighteenSound drivers and horn
