"Experimental PRO Center" Yet another experiment in Ole's Home Theatre!
This experiment should prove to us if it would be a good idea to use real PRO drivers for this size of Home Theatre. Thomas and Ole
have had some demonstration of Home Theatre loudspeaker setups. One of these was with a JBL Synthesis surround loudspeaker system and Thomas has
even talked about a G-K-F pro cinema loudspeaker system.
Thomas likes the JBL Synthesis setup for its dynamic range and sound, but they are a bit too expensive... and I'm not that impressed
with the 18" JBL woofers I have tested - then why not make something from scratch?

The experiment was made with a speedy-made center loudspeaker with a pair of old high efficiency RCF PRO 10" mid-woofers
and a 1" Hog Music horn with RCF driver N481. Supplemented with a pair of PRO built subwoofer reflex boxes tuned to 40Hz.
These are equiped with one EighteenSound 18LW1400 (4Ω) each. It would
have been nice if the boxes were tuned at 30-35Hz instead, which I know drivers are capable of.
The bigger woofers from EighteenSound has an astonishing sound quality, power capability and output - in a class of their own in my opinion

Here's the measurement of the total response of the Center - smoothed! It might not be a stright line, but this is quite alright for our little
experiment and Kim himself approved the setup - the bass might be a little bit too strong, but that's the way we like it !!!

Thomas, Kim and Ole sitting and judging the sound and evaluating the setup. This setup feels right!

We watched a lot of scenes from different movies. Open Range, Star Wars and a concert with Cher are some of the titles I can recall.
The shoot out sceens in Open Range were very convincing with lots of pressure. The classical race in Star Wars also had a new dimension
to it, but the Cher concert had too strong bass for my taste - the combination of our setup and the mix in the Cher concert might suggest
a little ajustment. Good high performance systems really reveals how good or bad the sound mix have been made - I think.
Have you had the same experience ?
